Abstract This article examines the narratives and practices of return experienced by long-term Nairobi-based Luo seeking to make a home in rural western Kenya. Building home, being buried there, remain crucial many urban understandings successful life. is project full contingency: it relies on resources gained city, as well access land cultivation kin relations. Although ‘home’ ‘return’ were often spoken idealised terms, desires much focused living towards future nostalgic sense lost past. Résumé Cet étudie les pratiques et discours des vivant à au sujet de leur retour chez eux, dans l'ouest Kenya rural.
